5 Things You Need to Know This Weekend

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Newcomers Fair: The Holliston Newcomers Club will be hosting their annual fair on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holliston Historical Society . The fair will showcase all of the social and civic activities that the Newcomers have planned for the 2012-2013 season. It will be a great chance to learn more about the Newcomers, to sign up for new activities, to join or renew your membership, and to see plenty of familiar faces – and some new ones too.

2. Are you ready for some football?: High school football in the TVL starts up TONIGHT, and the Panthers and Hillers are ready to get the season underway. Hopkinton kicks off at home against Newton South . Holliston begins their season at home as well, facing off against Stoughton . Both games are at 7 p.m.

If you're attending either game, be sure to add your photos to the fall sports gallery launching Sunday morning, let's see which school can get more pictures up by the end of the season.

3. PJB Teen Clothing Drive: Tomorrow Alex Kirshy will be on the Hopkinton Town Common from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. collecting clothing for his Eagle Project to support Project Just Because .

4. Andrew Carnigie in Person: At 2 p.m. on Sunday the Hopkinton Historical Society will present a free program: the story of Andrew Carnegie, a Scottish immigrant that came from humble beginnings to become the richest man in the world.

5. Weather: If you want to enjoy the beach one last time make sure you keep Saturday free. Today's pleasant weather is expected to carry in to tomorrow but Sunday looks like there could be rain. Sun returns on Monday, albeit with lower temperatures hovering around 70.
