By the Numbers: Holliston Walks Against Cancer

Inside the Oct. 16 walk to raise funds for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

 

0: The percent of funds raised spent on administration of the walk (sponsors pick up all costs). 

1: The number of clicks it takes to reach The Walk's donation page

2: The number of "banner sponsors" who have donated $1,000 (NE Coffee and Main Effort Financial Inc.)  

5: Distance, in miles, of the full walk 

9: The number of walks held (including this year's) and the number of Pink Ribbon sponsors of the walk

23: The number of Walk Partner level sponsorships 

25: Number of years ago that October became Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 

50: Regsitration fee, in dollars, for student walkers and those over 62 years of age. 

100: Registration fee for adult walkers 

200: The amount of additional fundraising needed to qualify to be entered into a drawing for an iPad2 on the day of the walk 

400: Approximate number of walkers in last year's Walk 

2003: The year of the first Holliston Walk against Breast Cancer, organized by Maryellen Miller, to whose memory this year's walk is dedicated.  

360,000: The amount raised to date in the walk's history.
