Committee Praises Phelan for Schools Leadership
Hopkinton School Committee bids goodbye to 11-year superintendent and wraps up the school year.
To start last night's School Committee meeting, School Committee Chairwoman nominated Rebecca Robak nominated member Jean Bertschmann as chairwoman for the new school year. Bertschmann's nomination was seconded and approved and she started her new role immediately.
School Committee member Troy Mick was also chosen to be vice chairman.
The committee then warmly thanked Superintendent Jack Phelan for his 11 years of leadership at Hopkinton schools and presented him with a crystal plaque.
“It has never been anything but a privilege. You are the gold standard,” Bertschmann said.
During the meeting, Phelan also received his final evaluation, which cited his commitment to the Hopkinton Schools and his tireless work for the district.
Phelan thanked the committee and said, “It is all about the ‘we’ and not about ‘me.’”
