Cornell’s Pub Remains Open After Fire

After a fire at Cornell’s on Saturday brought many of the town’s emergency responders together, the watering hole remains open for anyone to come in.

With a parking lot full of cars for the HPTA kickball tournament, many residents may have been concerned when numerous police and fire vehicles were parked at Cornell’s just before 3 p.m. on Saturday.

A fire was reported to have started in the vent hood over the grill in the Kitchen before spreading through some of the ventilation system and eventually on to the roof.

Although the restaurant’s owner Rob Cornell was unable to be reached for comment, one worker said that the bar has been continuing to serve drinks to their patrons and was never shut down.

“I don’t know where people got that idea from,” the worker said.

The fire chief said the kitchen would need to be closed for some amount of time.
