Dog Walk to Benefit Police K9 Unit
Area dog owners will raise funds for the police K9 unit with a dog walk starting at the Historical Society.
Local dog owners looking to support Holliston's K9 police unit are set to bring their pets to the Historical Society on May 6 for a K9 benefit dog walk
Currently in development and in need of donations, the Holliston Police Department hopes to have its dog unit ready for deployment in the fall.
Lisa Zais, who is heading the event, hopes to gather sponsors and donations in order to support the unit.
A $20 donation is required from walkers, but those looking to to give a little extra can become a sponsor of the program or purchase a raffle ticket at the event.
Sponsors of the program will have their names printed on t-shirts that will be sold during the walk.
Holliston's police dog is expected to be a combination animal, capable of drug sniffing and subduing suspects.
"This animal will benefit everyone in town," Zais said.
