Flood Watch Issued

The National Weather Service says heavy rains could cause flooding in Middlesex County.

The National Weather Service in Boston has issued a flood watch for Middlesex County, including Holliston, that remains in effect through Saturday evening.

The watch covers most of central and eastern Massachusetts. The NWS says a prolonged period of rain with isolated embedded thunderstorms will bring 1 to 3 inches of rain, with more possible in isolated areas.

Areas with poor draining and urban areas will be subject to flooding, the NWS says, and some small streams and creeks may also overflow their banks.

The weather may make for a soggy football game Friday night, as the HHS Panthers host Dover-Sherborn at 7 p.m.

The long-range forecast on weather.com calls for cloudy and showery weather well into next week.
