Hopkinton Children Rally Around 5K for ALS

Lauren Mercier and Gabby Weilding both volunteer for the Sharon Timlin Memorial 5k.

Names: Lauren Mercier, age 12 and Gabby Weilding, age 10.

Accomplishment:  Lauren and Gabby are two of the children that volunteer and raise money for the Sharon Timlin Memorial 5k. Lauren helps out at the family fun day where she runs the entrance booth; she also helps set up for and clean up after the day's events. Gabby created a website where has raised over $1,200 in three years. Gabby also runs in the children's race each year and has won her age group for the past three years.

Motivation: The girls are motivated by the suffering people with ALS go through. “It’s really fun and it feels good to know you’re helping a good cause,” Lauren said. They both encouraged other kids and adults to get involved in the many different fundraising opportunities that exist in Hopkinton.

To donate money and help Gabby reach her goal you can visit her fundraising page. If you'd like to help volunteer with Lauren visit www.sharontimlinrace.org
