LETTER: Dykema For State Representative

Holliston resident Steve Apesos supports the incumbent.

Editor,

I just wanted to send a note of endorsement for Carolyn Dykema as our State Representative.

Carolyn is a loud an clear voice for our community on Beacon Hill. As a career woman and mom, she best represents the voice of our suburban communities. Her legistative leadership on the environment, women's issues, and support for infrastructure in our communities, particular commuter rail service, is indicative that she is tuned into the needs of her constituents and that is why I am voting to re-elect her on Tuesday.

Sincerely,

Steve Apesos

Holliston Resident

She is not tuned into our needs when she votes to raise our taxes and force unionization on home daycare. Her votes on Beacon Hill are the main issue. She's voting in lockstep with the Speaker from Winthrop 95% of the time. She is tuned into his needs, not ours. She does his bidding. She does the big labor union's bidding. This has nothing to do with Middlesex, but everything to do with partisan Party politics and big labor union influence.

We can see that with all the mailers to our mailboxes. Where do they come from ? All from outside the district, from Boston, from union groups or state Democrat Party. She's a vote for the Speaker from Winthrop. It shows.

Mr Folkes,
As you have mentioned you are retired from the postal service on this medium and the MWDN. So, you are keenly aware of what lands in our mailboxes. With that being said you were able to personally reap benefits from a union and afforded a pension because of your tenure service. Neither my husband (who was victim to economic banking layoff) or myself are members of a union. As a college student I did get to work as a part time flexi at the Framingham post office, had to pay a union dues and didnt mind in relation to receiving an hourly rate that was nearly doubled what my pears were receiving at their part time seasonal jobs.

Ms. Hayes, you jump to conclusions. You don't know my life history or other jobs I've held or for how long. You don't know anything about me or what benefits I do or do not have. Again, you have this penchant for digging at people personally. Or, are you and Mr. Roney going to do the stealth internet hit job like you did on Lisa Keefe when you attacked that woman and her medical issues with trash you see on the internet.

Mr Folkes nor do you know me and some of the personnal attacks thrusted at me. The only conclsion I mentioned about you were ones you have proudly stated on various blog platforms. I see you like to keep making a point of the middle of the night comment posted in haste and regretted and took down on my own accord. When you do, you are just making people curious, note I don't even mention the person's name.

Ms Hayes, then stop jumping to conclusions about people's lives. Stop jumping to conclusions about what benefits I do or do not get. You don't know what you're talking about. Stick to the issues and leave people's personal lives alone.

Mr Folkes,
Re-read the posts you made on mwdn, you left very little conclusion jumping.
I also guess you feel the vulgar calls made to my home yesterday received by a special needs 12yr old girl who is often the victim of bullying (all true and documented) are validated retaliation, since that never happened prior EVER here.

Ms. Hayes, regardless of job, you don't know what benefits I do and do not get. You make the leap. You don't know what disabilities I have. You jump to conclusions and think everyone fits into the same square. You think if someone has a certain job, then they must get X. Why don't you leave people's personal lives alone. You don't know anything about this. Keep your nose out of my personal life. It's none of your business what I do or do not have. How could you possibly know anything. The fact is you don't !

Carolyn Dykema votes in a way that makes sense for the district. Sometimes that means supporting unions' positions, sometimes it means opposing their interests. Here are some votes against the union position:
- against casinos (which AFL-CIO wanted)
- for new teacher evaluation methods (which teachers' unions opposed)
- for additional charter schools (which teachers' unions opposed, and I don't agree with, either)
- for town power to put employees into the GIC for health insurance (which municipal worker unions opposed)

One of the traits Carolyn has that serves us very well is that she will work with everyone involved to reach a fair result, so she has explained her stands and worked with those on the other side - towns, unions, and most important citizens - to reach a fair conclusion.

The Lamb people will always distort her votes, as they've proven for 9 months now.

All the mailings for Dykema come from groups outside the district, state party and union mailers. She constantly votes with the unions. Throwing a few bones to try and separate herself from them won't work. I see what comes to our mailboxes and I throw it out. It's constant mailers from unions. She has the big labor union support because she votes for their special interests.

Carolyn has a less partisan voting record that every single one of the Republicans in the House. Lamb's campaign won't tell you that either. They won't tell you that they're now posing him as a moderate, when two years ago he was an extreme right-wing partisan - and he's still running as a partisan.

Carolyn, by contrast, is a practical solution-finder who'll build productive relationships with everyone.

Another Roney lie. In a 5 way Republican primary two years ago Lamb was labeled by his opponents as "not Republican enough" and "not a conservative" because he was a registered unenrolled for decades and had a history of supporting Democrats in his past.

Yep, some people didn't trust Marty's very malleable convictions. How that constitutes a lie on my part is typical Lamb smear brigade nonsense.

Marty did sign a pledge that misinterprets the US Constitution as forbidding Social Security and Medicare. No other candidate was so extreme on the right as to do that.

True to the puzzle of whether Marty conveniently believes whatever he thinks is necessary to fool voters, he exempted Social Security and Medicare from his pledge, even though the people he "pledged" to didn't. Marty's inability to stick to his word or his so-called beliefs is another common theme.

I have video and still photos of Marty rallying with the Tea Party in Worcester, but now he's a moderate? It simply won't wash.

Newsflash - this is Massachusetts and many families grew up as Democrats in the early years, and then switched to unenrolled. Look at this state now, over 50% are unenrolled, not partisan affiliated Democrats like you. We vote the person, note the party. There are many D's who are now U's. People grow wiser as time goes on and learn to leave the Democrat party.

You're barking up the wrong tree. There's no pledge like that. Typical MoveOn.org hit tactics, can see the same stuff coming out of mouths I watch on network television.

Don, you're simply wrong. Marty signed this pledge. Marty was the extreme Tea Party candidate.

If you vote the person, you cannot possibly pick Lamb over Carolyn Dykema. She is head and shoulders above him in true community and personal accomplishments.

Newsflash, I was unenrolled until about 2 yrs ago. I enrolled D for personnal reasons but do vote across party lines and will be at this election just not for my state rep where I am checking the D box for Dykema.

Ms. Hayes, - please, you've been pulling Democrat primary ballots steadily since 2004. Spare me the talk of independence and crossing party lines.

Darlene Hayes

Mr Folkes that was personnal choice but not party enrollment. Fyi get your records straight since in 2012 I didn't even vote in the primary.
I didn't want to pull a D straight ballot so decided not to participate in the primary voting.

I'm responding to your claim that you were unenrolled until about 2 years ago and vote across party lines. That's not the case when you pull Democrat ballots steadily since 2004.

Again, check woth Ann Ckick in the Hopkinton Town Clerk. When asked to be on the Hopkinton DTC i needed to enroll D. Check with Dick Duggan, he will tell you I am rather new to the committee.I don't even think it has been two years. Steadily I would also assume would include 2012, this election....seems like you need to check a few facts. At some point prior I think its been a long time I even ran and lost for parks & recs as an unerolled. My one and only attempt at ever running for anything.
