Our Contributor's Offer Ways to Give This Season
A look at what our reader's contriubuted to the announcement section this week.
Did you know that we welcome input from our contributors? We love to hear your news; especially weddings, births, engagements and other joyous events. Click on the news tab and then announcements to add your news.
Worried it will be missed? We've got you covered. Each week we use this column to highlight our contributor's submissions - okay, maybe not all, but many. Here is this week's list:
1. The Holliston PTSA seeks volunteers for their annual fundraiser.
Volunteers are needed for the Annual Holiday Tree Sale November 26th – December 22nd at Depot Liquor Store on Woodland Street, Holliston. We are seeking volunteers for two hour shifts on weekends from 10am to 6pm and on Thursday and Friday evenings 4pm to 8pm. Sign up for a shift by visiting http://hhspanthers.wikispaces.com/hhs+Tree+Sale+sign-up
All volunteers must be high school age or older, and they will qualify for an entry into the scholarship pool. Parent volunteers will receive a chance for their high school students. Chances for the scholarship drawing can also be earned for signing up for snow removal at the Depot Liquor store site. If you are not able to volunteer please help support the Holliston High-PTSA by purchasing your holiday tree at the sale. This is HSPTSA's only major fundraiser for the year. Funds raised support HSPTSA activities which include: teacher grants and senior scholarships. Ask how you can help support a tree donation for a food pantry family, inquire with an HSPTSA member at the Annual tree sale.
2. Help us locate Holliston Seniors.
For a community service project, the Miller School classes will be assembling holiday gift bags for Holliston’s senior citizens. Each class will contribute to the assembly of the gift bags by writing letters, packaging candy, and much more. Once the bags are completed, student volunteers will deliver them to Holliston homes.
We are looking for parent and student volunteers to make the deliveries on Tuesday, December 13th. Volunteers will need to meet in the Miller multi-purpose room after school at 2:30. All parent-student teams interested in volunteering should email Dianne Zenowich at Zenowichd@holliston.k12.ma.us by December 9th. Please write gift bags as the subject.
3. Toys for Tots campaign is in full swing, and you can help.
It is that time of year again, time to collect for the Toys for Tots campaign to benefit needy children this holiday season.
Please help spread joy to children in our area by donating a new, unwrapped toy in the Toys for Tots box located in any of the school lobbies. Students in the Holliston Middle and Holliston High School this year have the option of donating gift cards for teens in need. Those will be collected inside the office for secure donations.
The boxes will be available through Friday, December 9. Contact Liam Delaney at sp.delaney@verizon.net for more information.
