Rep. Dykema Votes to Protect $9 Million in Local Aid
A press release from the Representative's office outlines how she was able to combine with legislators to protect the community assistance.
Submitted by Rep. Dykema's office
Representative Carolyn Dykema, D-Holliston, joined her colleagues in the Massachusetts House of Representatives in approving a $115 million supplemental budget that blocks a proposal to take 1% from the $899 million unrestricted general government aid account, thus preserving $9 million.
"Particularly during these tough economic times, I am proud that I was able to stand up for our communities and preserve funding for essential programs supported by local aid," Dykema said. "This funding supports our local police and fire departments, our schools and so many other vital services that keep our communities growing. Maintaining this funding is a top priority as we move into the next fiscal year budget balancing process."
“We applaud the members of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for standing with their cities and towns and preserving $9 million in essential local aid,” said Geoffrey C. Beckwith, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Municipal Association. “Communities use these funds to pay for police and fire protection, schools, public works and much more, and this vote by the House is very good news for local citizens and taxpayers all across the state.”
The bill is now on the Governor’s desk

Aah yes, the wonderful gimmick of 'Local Aid' – where we pay obscene taxes to Beacon Hill,...
- they take a big cut to pay Bob Deleo and Carolyn Dykema – and those 47,000 MISSING EBT Cardholders [some $30 MILLION SO FAR] – and $2 MILLION in OVERTIME to state workers – who PRETEND to look for the 47,000 missing cards...
Then what's left over they make a – BIG DEAL - out of sending BACK to us – and act like they're doing us a FAVOR!
We get chump change back on our $$ - and we're expected to applaud?
Hey Carolyn [and you too Looney Tooney] – what are YOU DOING to cut the EBT FRAUD RACKET?

Ms. Dykema is not being truthful. The supplementary budget brought forward by DeLeo did not include Gov. Patrick's proposed cut.
Dykema had NOTHING to do with "saving" the money.
She again tries to take credit for something she had nothing to do with. Typical dishonest and disingenuous of her.

Ms. Dykema continues the smoke and mirrors. The supplementary budget did not include the 1% local aid cuts proposed by the governor. She is trying to claim credit for something she had no part in, and she had nothing to do with what was in the supplementary budget.
DeLeo packaged this in a way so they could falsely claim they protected communities, when it's totally baseless and just a charade.
This is typical of DeLeo and Dykema who follows him and votes in lockstep with him. It's shameful. Ms Dykema continues to show her true colors of partisanship and dishonesty.
