Roof Referendum At Hopkinton Election Today
Polls Are open at the Hopkinton Middle School today.
If approved the roof will be paid for by a bond over the next 10 years. The roof will cost taxpayers $26 per year to start out, and slightly less each of the following years until it is paid off.
School officials say they have already put $33,000 in to repairs and maintenance to the roof; and delaying this work would cost more money and could put students in the building at an increased risk of interrupted learning due to leaks.
The current roof was installed 24 years ago and came with a 20-year warranty.
There are no other articles on the ballot today.
