Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

This Week in Social Media: July 23-29

Welcome to our weekly column, which highlights trends, thoughts, and news from Facebook and Twitter.

Here at Holliston Patch, we take social media pretty seriously.

The platform is one way we look to interact with you, answer your questions and get to see what's on your mind. Social Media Saturdays is a weekly feature where we highlight your questions and thoughts you've shared on FacebookTwitter and other media throughout the past week.

We'll also point you to some new and interesting pages you may not have known about before.

Highlights of the Week

Currently, we've got 276 fans liking us onFacebook (up one from last week) and 438 followers on Twitter (three more than a week ago), with numbers growing every day. Here are some highlights of what took place this week:

  • Wednesday's story, posted locally first on Patch, that the town had earned a nearly $50,000 grant for work on the Upper Charles Trail, drew a "like" on Facebook from Alex Berkov.
  • The Facebook post that got the most impressions on Facebook was a police log entry dealing with stepped-up enforcement of underage drinking laws. Perhaps Facebookers were checking to see if anyone they knew was mentioned by name?

Social Media Page of the Week

This week, the Patch Passport highlighted a number of local venues where even locals can go to feel like tourists.

The Hidden Gem entry featured the Kamala Boutique. That shop's Facebook page has 275 "likes" and three "check ins." It also features a number of photos of the shop, its proprietors and the owner's signature bright yellow motorcycle.
