Which Movie Deserves To Be Best Picture? [Poll]

Nine films nominated for best picture; tell us which ones you viewed and liked.

For likely more than four hours on Sunday night, the 84th Academy Awards will air.

Hosted this year by Billy Crystal, there are nine films nominated for best picture.

Have you seen them all? Did you see just a handful? Catch only one?

We wouldn't be surprised if you didn't see them all.

For the first time in the three years since Oscar organizers expanded the best-picture category to more than five films, there’s not a single blockbuster in the running. Billion-dollar worldwide hits such as Avatar and Toy Story 3 have been in the best-picture mix the last two years, along with such huge smashes as Up, Inception and The Blind Side.

The only contender this time that has made it to the $100 million mark domestically is the Deep South tale “The Help” at $169.7 million — big business for a drama with a heavily female audience.

No matter how many films you viewed, tell us which one you think should take home the Oscar.

According to EasyOdds.com , The Artist is a 1-to-12 to 1-to-20 favorite to win, depending on the oddsmaker. EasyOdds compiles the odds from a number of bookmakers.

2012 movie grosses have been surprisingly strong, up nearly 18% year to date compared with 2011. But if you think any of that is thanks to people rushing out to see the best picture contenders ahead of Sunday’s Academy Awards show, think again.

Just look at this past weekend’s box office, which featured five films taking in more than $20 million in U.S. ticket sales over the four-day Presidents Day period. None were Oscar films.

In fact, the best performer of this year’s nine best picture nominees, the George Clooney-starring “The Descendants,” finished in 11th place, with an estimated $3.5-million take.

Are you planning on seeing any of the nominated this weekend?
