Wine Store to Open at Hopkinton Square

Owners of The Vin Bin in Marlborough look forward to a second location.

When voters said they did not want the town to apply for an extra all-liquor license at Town Meeting, they didn't stop a wine store from opening at Hopkinton Square.

Last night the Board of Selectmen approved a wine and malt liquor license for The Vin Bin to open in the second building at the development.

The specific license, one of five unused licenses of its type, does not allow the establishment to sell spirits and hard-liquor.

The Vin Bin applied for the license, and owner Rick Lombardi said he looks forward to opening a second store.

The original Vin Bin is in Marlborough, just a short drive down route 495, and several Selectmen mentioned previous visits to the store.

According to Lombardi the store is a "wine and cheese store" with a "gourmet nature."

"We wouldn't be selling cigarettes and lottery tickets like a normal package store," he said. "We also won't have the neon signs that you often see in the windows."

I'm looking forward to it and hoping their prices are better than Hopkinton Wine prices. But my first choice to buy wine will always be Colella's. :)

Thanks Allison, we look forward to our new home in Hopkinton, I think you'll find that we offer many unique items, especially hand cut cheeses and hard to find wines. We want to complement -- not replace -- any business in town.
