The Holliston Ultimate Frisbee team brought its record to 2-2 with a marathon road win over Weymouth High School on April 18th.
After taking a commanding 8-3 lead at half time, the Panthers had to bear down and finish strong for the 16-14 win. Mike Reid played exceptionally well in the victory, both on the offensive and defensive ends of the field.
The final two points were recorded by the dynamic duo of Ben Hart and Marcus Rexach. Hart found Rexach with a strong backhand to get to 15 points and then finished off Weymouth with an accurate flick, again to Rexach for the victory. After the game, Coach Levasseur indicated the win was not perfect: "We had our ups and downs throughout the game but, fortunately, we were able to pull out the win. Weymouth capitalized on our mistakes but [now] we know what we need to improve on for the Andover tournament on April 29th."
With one-quarter of the season in the record books, Holliston currently has a modest two-game winning streak, with both wins coming on the road. This may bode well as the varsity squad does not have another home game until May 2nd.
Holliston began its season with two home losses to Abington and Sharon before playing their best game of the year in very poor weather conditions with a win at Newton North. The big test of the team will be at the annual UF tournament in Andover on April 29.
Come out to the high school and check out a game soon before the season is gone!
