The Town clean up by Hopkinton Green Committee was pulled off last Saturday the 28th, and was a huge success. People met at the common at 9 am, hung out and took a few pictures, then dispersed to various streets in small groups to attack the trash problem. I think anyone who lives in or works in town should be very thankful to all the people who participated. Those who showed up all have careers and family, and are extremely busy ( who isn't busy these days, especially on Saturdays ) yet they took time out to deal with a problem that wasn't of their making or their responsibility. Some even brought their children to help!!
I wish I had written down every ones name, because it would have been nice to give all who pitched in some mention. The group I was in went 1st to Fruit street, and in about 2 hours we had at least 10 bags filled - hitting only half the street ( from Saddlehill down to Southboro Gun Club ) There is still plenty more trash farther off the road, and I am sure another 10 bags could be filled, which should give you all some idea of how much trash is being dumped and allowed to accumulate on just half a road, which abuts a protected wetlands area-what a joke that is ). We also pulled a toilet, couch, baskets, buckets, tires and found yet another toilet that we will have to get another day. People also used their own cars to shuttle the trash back and forth to the dumpsters Harvey's was kind enough to donate. I am so bad with names, and I am kicking myself for not getting them for this blog, so anyone who knows who participated, please feel free to leave a comment, also please tell us what streets you hit and how much trash you got, as other streets besides Fruit street were cleaned. I also want to mention that some people, who when done with one street, took off and went to another street, and probably put in 4-6 hours, even more ( I myself was only able to do a little over 2 hours ) so these are the people we need to thank, including the people who organized this - the Hopkinton Green Committee. Pictures To Follow!!!

Thanks John, yes I took lots of pictures, so people can SEE the COUCH, TOILET(s) and MACHETE among other items we found along the road. There was a distressing amount of Vodka nips and blue Bud Lite cans along the road...and SUNDAY AM there are already two new cans along that section of Fruit street...
