Massachusetts microbreweries have embraced the can in their summer beer offerings.
Cans are all the rage in the microbrew beer world this summer, according to Aaron Aykanian at the Vin Bin. "When all those people saw Sam Adams was doing it, everyone started doing it," said Aykanian who is the Vin Bin's beverage director and manager of the Hopkinton store. Summer is the time for canned beer, he said, whether it is because it makes a six pack lighter for hiking or lets you have a delicious beer by the pool. With companies like Sam Adams paving the way, Massachusetts breweries such as Berkshire Brewing and Wachusett Brewery are now offering their beers in cans.

My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B. We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. Everett officials have negotiated the first host community agreement with a casino developer for the greater Boston region. Milford has an active application, but no agreement yet.
Everett officials have completed the negotiation of a host community agreement with casino developer Wynn Resorts, of Las Vegas, becoming the first community in the greater Boston region to schedule a public vote on a resort casino. According to the agreement, the referendum will be June 22. The Hopkinton Square salon joins salons around the area in Boston Strong Celeste-a-Thon on May 13.
On Monday May 13, Supercuts in Hopkinton will join Boston area salons in an effort to raise money for a Boston hair stylist and her daughter who were severely injured in the Boston Marathon Bombings. Celeste Corcoran worked at Emerge Spa & Salon for more than 13 years. The Boston Strong Celeste-a-Thon will raise money to pay for the medical costs for Celeste and her daughter Sydney. A percentage of all proceeds and sales from Supercuts on May 13 will go to the Celeste and Sydney Recovery Fund. The Supercuts in Hopkinton Square joins Supercuts salons around New England and 20 other area salons in the effort to raise money to help the mother and daughter. BOSTON — Suffolk University drew proponents and opponents of casino gambling to a single forum Thursday, including representatives from Milford and the proposed Foxwoods Massachusetts casino. Scott Butera, chief executive officer of Foxwoods Resort Casino, the dominant partner in the casino application for Milford, was a panelist, as were Steve Trettel, a co-chairman of of Casino Free Milford, and Milford Selectman Brian Murray. Butera described the Milford proposal in a powerpoint presentation, emphasizing that the $1 billion casino application would bring good paying jobs to the Milford region.
