Hopkinton Says No to 'Hunter's Ridge', McAuliffe Charter School Open House

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. Hunter's Ridge Road was the proposed name for the road through the new subdivision in Hopkinton. Problem is, Hopkinton already has a Ridge Road. On advice from the town's police chief, the selectmen agreed to reject the proposed name as being too similar. "In a time of need, I would hate to see someone call it Ridge Road," said Police Chief Charles Wallace. A new name will come back to the board.

2. Holliston Police are taking part Wednesday and Thursday in active school shooter training at Holliston High School. This is intended to help the department prepare for a crisis similar to those at schools in recent years, such as Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. Milford Police took part in similar training in the spring.

3. The Hopkinton Fire Chief had a good review Tuesday, in a meeting with selectmen.

4. If you are interested in volunteering to help plant daffodils along the Boston Marathon route, the contact information is: Marathondaffodils@gmail.com. A website for the project will be up and running soon.

5. McAuliffe Expeditionary Learning Charter School in Framingham, which is open to Holliston and Hopkinton families, is holding a public information session Friday. The event begins at 9 a.m.
