Milford Foxwoods Casino: What You Need to Know

We have a break down of what you need to know about the proposed casino agreement between Milford and Foxwoods.

The full details of the agreement between selectmen and the Foxwoods casino is a great read, but we have broken it down for you here.

1. Foxwoods Massachusetts expects to spend $1 billion on the casino, which could take between two to three years to build. Under the agreement, Foxwoods will pay the town at least $25 million a year in property taxes, once the casino opens.

2. The casino could draw 7 million visitors a year, according to Foxwoods projections.

3. A $2.5 million fund for impacted homeowners, those whose property is north of Route 109 and East of I-495, will cover applications for 10 years not 5 years for devalued properties.

4. There will be no mitigation for Milford Regional Medical Center, which had sought, unsuccessfully, to have the resort casino cover up to $5 million of its planned emergency and patient room expansion.

5. The town vote on the agreement with Foxwoods Massachusetts resort casino will be Nov. 19.
