Kenealy of Hopkinton is honored by the Middlesex West District Medical Society

Waltham – March 20 – Hopkinton resident James F.X. Kenealy, M.D., has been honored by his physician peers of the Middlesex West District Medical Society as its 2014 Community Clinician of the Year, an award recognizing his professionalism and contributions as a physician.

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community. The Middlesex West District is comprised of nearly 600 physicians who work and live in 18 communities in the MetroWest area. The award will be presented April 2 at the district society’s annual meeting at the Framingham Country Club. 

Dr. Kenealy is a board-certified otolaryngologist practicing at MetroWest ENT Associates in Framingham and Milford. A cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College with a bachelor’s degree, he received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He holds medical staff appointments at MetroWest Medical Center and Milford Regional Medical Center. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology and was appointed an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Tufts University School of Medicine in 2013.

A member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since 1992, he has served the organization in a number of capacities, including chairman of the Committee on Legislation, vice chairman of the Committee on Finance, a member of the Organized Medical Staff Section, and a member of the Board of Trustees and the House of Delegates. From 2003-2006 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the MMS and Alliance Charitable Foundation.

Dr. Kenealy was previously honored by the Medical Society with its Committee Chair Service Award, recognizing his nine years of service, including four as chairman, of its Committee on Legislation. He also received an Rx for Excellence Award in 2011 from the Massachusetts Medical Law Report and was recognized in the Congressional Record for his involvement in “some of the most pivotal legislative issues of the decade, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”

An advocate of health education, Dr. Kenealy is active in the Medical Society’s Soapy Hand Washing Campaign, an ongoing public health effort to encourage hand washing among children; is an occasional host of Physician Focus, the health educational television program for patients produced by the Massachusetts Medical Society and Hopkinton Community Television; and has served as a health reporter for Hopkinton Community Television. He also participates in the Society’s annual Make a Difference Day, a collection effort for domestic violence shelters around the state.
