Hopkinton Girl Scout Kate Schweikert Honors Helen G. Drinan at Leading Women Awards

Hopkinton Girl Scout Kate Schweikert presented the Leading Women Award to Helen G. Drinan, President, Simmons College at Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts’ 22nd annual Leading Women Awards Breakfast earlier today.

Schweikert, a 14-year-old Girl Scout Senior, has been involved in Girl Scouts for eight years. During her time in Girl Scouts, Scheikert was able to combine two of her interests, traveling and event planning, when she organized Hopkinton’s World Thinking Day, an event where girls participate in activities and projects with global themes to honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries. Schweikert is currently earning her Silver Award, the second highest award a Girl Scout can achieve, and plans on pursuing her Gold Award, the highest award, as well.

“My favorite part of being a Girl Scout is camping, planning events and meeting a ton of new people.  Girl Scouts allows me to do so many things. Because of my experiences I am now interested in drawing, photography and running. After high school I’d like to go to college, continuing my interest in art and travel,” explained Schweikert.
