Expect Snow Monday, Wednesday

Weather forecasters say the region will get hit with two storms during the next 72 hours.

Just as Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Groundhog Day, calling for another six weeks of winter, weather forecasters warn that the prediction could be true, since southern New England will be hit with two storms during the next three days.

The first storm of February is expected to bring freezing rain and snow starting in late in the morning on Monday and running through the early evening, with temperatures in the mid-20s to low 30s. Accumulations will be anywhere from one to three inches, according to forecasters.

The next system will arrive at the beginning of the morning commute on Wednesday. The snow is expected to be wet and heavy, with temps between the low 20s and mid-30s.
