Hopkinton Get Out Planner for April 22 to 24

PAUL COMBS' POCKET BIG BAND
Where/When:
Amazing Things Arts Center, 160 Hollis St, Framingham. Saturday April 23, 8 p.m.
Why Go: Paul Combs' Pocket Big Band is now in its tenth year of delighting audiences with exciting modern jazz. "This is a nine-piece powerhouse," wrote Ted Belastock in Quarter Notes Magazine. The band's repertoire includes both engaging arrangements of well-known standards and music many have probably never heard before. Among the rarities are compositions by Jazz Giant Tadd Dameron that Combs has discovered in the course of researching his biography of this very important American musician.

THE ALLENS BAND
Where/When: Speakers Night Club, 19 Weed St., Marlborough. Saturday April 23 at 8.
Why Go: The Allens have shared a stage with Jesse Malin, The Romantics, Neighborhoods, Extreme, Farrenheit, and members of the Joe Perry Project. Paying their dues in other bands, the boys in The Allens always had a friendly camaraderie and appreciation for each others' playing.

MANGA CLUB FOR TEENS 
Where/When: Worcester Public Library, 3 Salem Square, Worcester, Friday, April 22, 2011 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: Teens, 13 to 18 years old, who like MANGA drawing or want to learn about it, come and join our MANGA club activities with artists Andy Fish and Jamie Buckmaster.

REACTION STATION: ADVENTURES FOR YOUNG CHEMISTS 
Where/When: The Discovery Museums, 177 Main St., Acton, Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Imagine yourself a chemist as you use laboratory glassware to do experiments. Use a natural indicator to identify mystery acids and bases that we use everyday. Try your hand at doing wet chemistry in a model glove box! Learn why some chemists use glove boxes and hoods. Reaction Station is funded by The Camille & Henry Dreyfus Foundation.
Pricing: Free, with the price of admission.
