Motorcycle Riders Supporting Jimmy Fund with Marathon Ride

Riders from across New England will be gathering in Hopkinton for the first Boston Marathon Motorcycle Ride this weekend.

It has only been four months since the 2013 Boston Marathon and the bombings that went along with it, but next weekend motorcycle riders from across the area will be riding the 26.2-mile route from Hopkinton to Boston to honor those who lost their lives and support the Jimmy Fund.

The ride will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11. Motorcycle riders will leave the starting line on a ride that will take them into Copley Square, past the MIT campus for a memorial ceremony honoring slain MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, who was a dedicated Jimmy Fund supporter, and then on to Lowell for live entertainment and refreshments at the Lowell Pavilion.

"In light of the recent tragedy that occurred in Boston this past Marathon Monday, we have decided to reach out to all local law enforcement agencies and invite them to join this ride," event organizer Fred Georgoulis said.
