Dykema Hosts Tour of Holliston Clean Technology Manufacturer Rypos

Members of the Manufacturing Caucus in the Massachusetts Legislature tour facility.

On July 15, state Rep. Carolyn Dykema, state Rep. John Fernandes, D-Milford, members of the House Manufacturing Caucus, and Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner David Cash visited the Rypos manufacturing facilities in Holliston. Rypos is a clean energy manufacturer that produces innovative technologies that reduce diesel emissions.

“Rypos is a local company working to improve air quality as well as support economic growth in our community,” Representative Dykema stated. “Touring the company’s facilities further revealed the potential for expanding clean technology and manufacturing in the Commonwealth at the same time. I was glad that some of my colleagues and the Commissioner were able to see the exciting manufacturing happening in the district.”

“Rypos’ leadership in the clean energy economy is exactly the kind of private sector entrepreneurship that the Patrick Administration applauds,” said David W. Cash, Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, “through smart incentives and regulations, the Commonwealth has helped create the right kind of space for companies like Rypos to lead the way in creating clean energy jobs while protecting our environment and public health.  Kids breathe easier because of the work of Rypos.”

Rypos CEO and Hopkinton resident Peter Bransfield led the group, which also included representatives from the offices of Sen. Richard Moore, D-Uxbridge, Rep. Jeffrey Roy, D-Franklin, and Rep. Denise Garlick, D-Needham, around the company’s two facilities located in Hopping Brook Industrial Park.

Reps Dykema, Fernandes, Garlick and Roy are members of the Manufacturing Caucus in the Massachusetts Legislature. The caucus was formed last October to connect legislators interested in increasing the state’s economic development through manufacturing and has over 50 members. The caucus aims to strengthen the Commonwealth’s manufacturing industry with a focus on building an educated workforce to fill new jobs in the growing industry.

“Massachusetts manufacturers are leaders in innovation, employing over 275,000 Massachusetts residents and playing a major role in the resurgence of our state economy,” stated Fernandes. “It is important to support their efforts to mobilize for increased market share and employment in the future. These site visits are paramount to learning about and understanding the regulatory, financing, logistical and workplace training issues that many of these companies are currently dealing with. My ongoing mission, as House Chairman of the Manufacturing Caucus, along with Rep. Dykema, Rep. Roy and Senator Moore, is to bring that message to our colleagues in the House and Senate.”

“As a member of both the House Committee on Global Warming & Climate Change and the Manufacturing Caucus, I have deep appreciation for a company like Rypos,” said Roy. “Rypos has decided to settle and stay in Massachusetts, taking advantage of our world class education, infrastructure and booming economy while furthering Massachusetts’ standing as a leader in green technology. Manufacturing is vitally important to the Massachusetts economy and is the sixth largest employment sector here; it is helping to lead us out of the recession.

Manufacturing is steadily growing in Massachusetts. The sector has grown by 16 percent in the Commonwealth over the last seven years. There are currently over 7,000 manufacturing jobs in MA with annual salaries of over $75,000.
