EMC Spends $1 Million a Month in Legal Fees

Patent assertion entities are forcing the Hopkinton company to spend $1 million a month in legal fees yet EMC always wins in court.

Patent assertion entities (PAEs) are companies that buy and enforce patents for products they didn't create and, since 2005, they have filed at least 30 lawsuits against EMC Corp. of Hopkinton, according to the Worcester Business Journal. 

In its Dec. 9, 2013 edition, the WBJournal says EMC has been forced to spend at least $1 million per month on legal fees for each of the past several years, and the PAEs have never prevailed over EMC in court.
