When complete, Legoland Discovery Center Boston in Somerville’s Assembly Row will have two Lego rides, a 4D cinema, multiple play areas, a miniland with Boston and Somerville’s iconic buildings and more (attractions overview).

In all, the 44,000-square-foot center will be home to more than 3 million Legos.

Construction was ongoing Tuesday (it was estimated at roughly 60 percent done), as press was allowed in to see what’s in the works. The center is set to open Friday, May 23 (tickets may go on sale online as soon as Thursday, March 13).

Take a look at the above photos and digital renderings, and let us know what you think in the comments below.

The center will be the 11th indoor Legoland Discovery Center in the world. There are also six outdoor Legoland parks, two in the United States, in California and Florida.

The center is intended for children ages 3-10; no adult will be allowed in without a child (except for on monthly adult nights).

Legos are coming to Andover. Check out Bricks 4 Kidz. www.bricks4kidz.com/andover and like them on Facebook.

Loralie, not much good for a Somerville Patch promoting an afterschool program so far North. The Burlington option would be closer.

We have plenty of Lego attractions in this country already. Try something different for a change!

Kenneth, this is something LOCAL for the people of Boston and New England. Or are you coming in with a better idea? The nearest LEGO attraction is some distance away.
