Holliston Company Fined For Hazardous Waste Management

When LEWA Inc., a pump repair facility on Hopping Brook Road, was inspected in February 2012 the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection found several waste management problems.

“it was determined that the company failed to post a sign in the waste oil accumulation area, properly mark and label satellite hazardous waste and waste oil containers, and clearly delineate its waste oil accumulation area. The company also generated hazardous waste materials in excess of its registered status, and discharged industrial wastewater to an on-site septic system,” a release from MassDEP said.

The company reportedly acted very quickly to comply with the regulations that had violated, but they will still be facing a fine of $4,260 for the problems with their waste disposal.
