Anti-Casino Coalition: Foxwoods MA Sewer Plan is 'Blatant Disregard for the Facts'

Members of the MetroWest Anti-Casino Coalition say Foxwoods Massachusetts is grasping at straws to win votes.

When Foxwoods Massachusetts presented its sewer and water plan to Milford residents and officials last week the town of Milford's consultants were on-hand to deliver some contrary facts, but the MetroWest Anti-Casino Coalition is worried Milford residents still need to hear the true facts.

“The residents of Milford deserve better. Foxwoods should give them the facts and let them make their decision based on the actual merits of the proposal," said MWACC Chairman Brian Herr, who is a member of the Hopkinton Board of Selectmen.

The developer said the Milford Wastewater Treatment Plant has the capacity for 12 million gallons per day, however according to MWACC the town only has capacity for a state-permitted 4.3 million gallons per day.

"To go beyond this limit would require a massive overhaul of the entire sewer system infrastructure, disrupting the town of Milford for years," a letter from MWACC said.

Herr says the casino developer is blatantly disregarding the facts, and that is unfair to the residents of Milford who could be voting on the casino by the end of the year.

"Why Foxwoods would spin the numbers to this degree is beyond logic and highly suspect," he said.

Herr said he believes the casino is is spinning the numbers is to get every vote they can.

"Clearly they are grasping at the development-at-any-cost-straws in the hopes of winning votes in Milford and on Beacon Hill with the [Massachusetts Gaming Commission]," he said.
