New Liquor Store Comes to "Old Town" Hopkinton

If you've been driving through downtown Hopkinton lately you may have noticed the work being done at 70 Main Street. 

Bill Tetlow, former manager of North Pond House (currently Marathon Restaurant), has recently bought the building and opened Old Town Liquors where Star Package Store used to be.

"The building has been a package store since prohibition ended, it's a great tradition to carry on the business in this location," Tetlow said.

Pamela French, an employee of Tetlow'a at the North Pond House, will be managing the store which opened last week. Among standard liquor and beer, Tetlow hopes the vast selection of wines will keep people who live near the center of town coming in.

"The location is very convenient for a lot of people," Tetlow said. "It's easy to stop in on your way home from work or after doing your errands in town."

One of the things shoppers may notice is the fishing decor around the shop. Tetlow recently moved back to Hopkinton after working as a sign maker, among other professions, in Florida. Tetlow made the sign that hangs above the entryway himself and has a knack for all things ocean.

The hours for the store are Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m.

Tetlow said the hours may change in the future, but he hopes the late hours will allow people getting off late shifts to grab their favorite alcohol on the trip home after other stores have closed.
