GEO CACHING 101
High Tech Outdoor Scavenger huntLooking for a fun, family-friendly way to exercise both mind and body? The outdoor adventure of geocaching combines cool technology with the thrill of finding a hidden box of mystery prizes.
The core of the sport consists of using a hand held GPS receiver unit to guide you to a destination, where a hidden container (or “cache”) is stored. Once found, you log your visit in an included logbook, and optionally trade one of the many contained “goodies” for one of your own.
Join as us as we will teach you all the fundamental basics of Geocaching such as:
• What a GPS is
• How it works
• Loading coordinates into your GPS
• Searching for geocachesAnd much, much more!
After we teach you the basics we will send you out to find the caches that are located in the area! This is a great way to spend quality time with your family this summer!
GPS’ will be provided for you to learn on, but will need to be returned at the end of the day.
DATE: July 19th class begins at 10am and will continue until the cache is found!
Rates: $20 for MetroWest YMCA Members $30 for Non MetroWest YMCA
