Holliston Girl Raises Money for Volunteer Trip to Haiti

Through GoFundMe, Angelique Carrier was able to raise $475 for volunteer trip to Haiti.

After creating a GoFundMe page, Angelique Carrier of Holliston raised the $475 she needed to volunteer in Haiti in March.

Here is some information about her project:

I'm going on a volunteer trip to Haiti in March of 2014. As far as we know right now, the goal of the trip will be to build a secondary school for the older kids in the town.

As of right now, students have to walk 6 miles to the city, pay for a room, meals and a higher tuition. All these factors make it difficult for students to continue schooling. The mission of the Haiti Plunge Program Inc. is to educate youth interested in making a difference in one small part of the world.

Participants invest their resources and energies in the sustainable development of a nine-village rural agricultural co-op set deep within the Mathew Mountain Range in the Region of Cabaret, Haiti.

The program was initiated in 1984 by nine youth from the Berkshire Hills in Western Massachusetts. It provides youth unique and challenging opportunities to be of service to others. The people of Haiti are in great need of help after the devastating earthquake in 2010.

I'm so excited to have the opportunity to go on this trip and help improve the lives of as many people as possible in Haiti!

Patch wishes you the best of luck, Angelique!
