Maggie Hamre Named Artist of the Month

Maggie Hamre has been named Holliston's latest Artist of the Month.

According to an announcement on the school district's website, Hamre is a junior at Holliston High School, and is a student of printmaking. Here is a description of her work featured in the photo. 

The theme for this relief printmaking project using linoleum was based on a scene looking out of or into any type of window as well as an interpretation of the word “window.” The students created their compositions after looking at examples by artist Pablo Picasso and his use of the material linoleum and his use of texture (one of the elements of art) in his artwork. Maggie chose to create a high contrast composition using texture in an asymmetrical layout.
