Six Cormier's Self Defense Academy Karate Students Medal at Tournament

Eleven karate students from Cormier's Self Defense Academy in Holliston competed at the World Martial Arts Federation Semi-Annual Tournament on March 30. The World Martial Arts Federation Spring Tournament, which was held at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center, is a family-friendly event open to martial arts students of all ages, styles, and abilities.

More than 500 martial arts students from the New England area competed at the Tournament.  Cormier's Self Defense Academy's students demonstrated their skills in Forms and Sparring. Six of Cormier's students placed in the top four in their categories: 

• Nick Bagley: 18 and up  Under Black Challenged Forms, 1st Place
• Danny Liberty: 10/11 Intermediate Sparring, 1st Place
• Johann Mari: 8/9 Intermediate Forms, 2nd Place
• James Palanzi: 8/9 Intermediate Forms, 3rd Place
• Jonah Businger: 6/7 Intermediate Sparring, 4th Place
• Ainsley Cronin: 8/9 Beginner Forms, 4th Place
• Danny Marczewski, Sara Buckley, Dominic Palanzi, Braedon Cronin and Will Chamberlain: competitor medals!

“Our students worked very hard and had a great day. I'm very proud of their enthusiasm, dedication, and sportsmanship. They are all winners!” said Jim Cormier, owner and Master Instructor at Cormier's Self Defense Academy and World Martial Arts Hall of Fame Member.

The top four competitors in each event were awarded trophies. All competing children who did not win trophies received a special competitor's medal, recognizing their courage and best effort for competing.
