How Can I Support the Holliston Pantry Shelf This Holiday Season?

From food and coat donations, to haircuts and blanket drawing, there are many ways to support Holliston families in need.

There are many ways you can support the Holliston Pantry Shelf this holiday season. Here are just a few.

Bruce Adkin Makes Donation
The photograph (photo 14) was taken by me at our October Board meeting. Pantry President, Carl Damigella, thanks student, Bruce Adkin for the time and effort helping Pantry volunteers in more ways than one. In addition to volunteering and becoming a student board member, Bruce and his family raised over $900 at a combination yard/bake sale that he organized. The money raised purchased a much-needed air conditioner and additional shelving for the Pantry.

2013 Holliston Holiday Stroll Donation Drop-off - Saturday, November 30
The Holliston Pantry Shelf will be featured front and center at this year's Holiday Stroll. Come and enjoy warm cider and donuts at 783 Washington Street between Studio D and Holliston Superette. Donations can be dropped off during the stroll from 12:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Items in particular need right now are canned soup, paper towels, cereal, snacks, brownie mix, cookies, and canned meats like tuna, chicken and turkey. For more information, visit www.hollistonpantryshelf.org.

Also being sold are tickets to win a beautiful blanket in a drawing to benefit the Holliston Pantry Shelf. The blanket is currently displayed in Fiske's General Store window, but will be moved across the street at 783 Washington Street by the Holiday Stroll. Tickets may also be purchased at Fiske's General Store and Kamala Boutique for $1.00 per ticket until December 1st. 100% of the proceeds go to the Holliston Pantry Shelf. Thank you to the Stone Soup Artisan Group!

$10 Haircuts at Studio D
Stop by Studio D during the Holiday Stroll on Saturday, November 30 at 785 Washington Street for a haircut between 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m. and help out your neighbors at the Pantry, too. During these hours, all haircuts will be $10 and all proceeds go to the Holliston Pantry Shelf. Either call 508-429-2232 for an appointment, or just walk in.

Holiday Appeal Letter
The annual Holliston Pantry Shelf letter requesting monetary donations to keep the Pantry running will be arriving in mailboxes just after Thanksgiving. The numbers of our neighbors in need rises every year and our overall donations have seen a decrease in 2013. As a reminder, the Pantry is not funded by the government in any way and relies entirely on the generosity of our community, so any donation would be appreciated. We also accept donations through PayPal at www.hollistonpantryshelf.org

Warm Winter Coat Drive
Once again, the Holliston Newcomers Club is collecting new or gently used coats for Pantry families. Over 40 warm winter coats have been requested in almost all sizes ranging from small child to adult. Please visit the HNC web site at www.hollistonnewcomers.org for all information needed to help out Holliston families to stay warm this winter.
