Do You Want to Run the 2014 Boston Marathon?

November 22, 2013, Hopkinton, Mass. – The Hopkinton Public Library Foundation (HPLF) is seeking up to five runners who would like a number for the 2014 Boston Marathon.  At its Tuesday, December 17, 2013, meeting, the Hopkinton Board of Selectmen will conduct its annual lottery to award Boston Marathon numbers to local charitable organizations.   To apply to be a member of the HPLF Boston Marathon Team, and raise money for the much-needed renovation and expansion of Hopkinton Public Library, please visit the HPLF website at www.hplfinc.org and submit your application to HPLF prior to December 17. 

Three runners are already running for HPLF with their own 2014 Boston Marathon numbers.  The newest member of our team, Hopkinton resident and school committee member, Jon Graziano, is running Boston to raise money for the renovation and expansion of Hopkinton Public Library.  As an avid reader and the father of three book-loving little ones, Jon is honored to be running for the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation. This will be his second time running the Boston Marathon.  Last April, he did not have the opportunity to finish the race and is looking forward to running across the finish line in 2014!  HPLF greatly appreciates Jon’s commitment to our Library and invites you to support Jon in his marathon effort to build a state-of-the art library for the Town of Hopkinton at www.hplfinc.org.

Also running on the HPLF Boston Marathon Team are Jamie and Treavor Weeden.  Like Jon, this husband-wife team was among the over 5,000 runners stopped before the finish line during the 117th running of the Boston Marathon.  In 2013, Jamie and Treavor raised over $6,000 for the renovation and expansion of Hopkinton Public Library.  We thank them for running and fundraising for the Library yet again in the 2014 Boston Marathon.  To contribute to Jaime and Treavor’s fundraising effort, please visit www.hplfinc.org.

About the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation

The Hopkinton Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in September 2011. Its mission is to raise private funds to support the restoration, expansion and state-of-the-art renovation of Hopkinton Public Library.  In addition to the $4.5 million grant awarded to the Town of Hopkinton by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC), funds raised by HPLF will defray the Town’s cost of restoring, renovating and expanding the library’s historic building.  In 2011, the MBLC approved Hopkinton’s plan for the renovation and expansion of Hopkinton Public Library and awarded Hopkinton a $4.5 million Library Construction Grant, approximately 45% of the $10.2 million total cost of the library building project.  Hopkinton currently is #4 on the waiting list to receive these state construction funds, which could be awarded to the Town as soon as 2014.  Once completed, Hopkinton Public Library will provide a modern, accessible facility that meets the current and future needs of the community, while preserving and highlighting the architectural features of the beloved original building.  For more information about HPLF’s mission, please visit the HPLF website at www.hplfinc.org.  Contributions to Hopkinton Public Library Foundation, Inc. can be mailed to P.O.
