Hopkinton Police: Late Night Game of Man Hunt, Burglary at Bill's Pizza

Friday, Aug. 16

12:15 a.m.: A caller complained kids were playing basketball on Hayden Rowe Street. They told an officer they would keep it down.

8:04 a.m.: A three-car crash was reported on South Street. One car was towed, but no one was injured.

12:32 p.m.: A caller reported his pickup truck was stolen sometime earlier that morning. Another vehicle was in the lot on Wood Street, and he wasn't sure who it belonged to. The other vehicle was registered to an Oxford address. Police in that town were contacted.

3:32 p.m.: A caller on Rocky Woods Road reported an odor of natural gas. Firefighters responded.

4:48 p.m.: Arlington Police called and reported the stolen truck had been recovered in that town. Hopkinton Police notified the owner.

9:01 p.m.: A caller on Teresa Road said youths were running around yelling and screaming in the woods behind her house. Police responded and found youths playing man hunt. They said they would be going home for the night.

9:21 p.m.: A caller said his car was stolen from his driveway on Gibbon Road in the past 30 minutes. Police responded and started checking the area. An officer found the vehicle, and discovered it had been taken by a family member, and that this was all a miscommunication.

Saturday, Aug. 17

3:13 a.m.: A caller on Valleywood Road reported vandalism to a mailbox.

8:08 a.m.: A caller on Cedar Street reported finding a dead fox. A call was made to the Department of Public Works for pickup.

4:45 p.m.: A caller said ATVs were being operated on a Fruit Street property. An officer responded and found two youths on dirt bikes. He spoke to them and sent them back home.

4:46 p.m.: A caller on Chestnut Street said her neighbor was playing his music very loudly. Police responded and spoke to him, and he agreed to turn it down.

9:42 p.m.: A caller on Jamie Lane reported a dog barking. Police responded and found a dog in a fenced-in area, barking. The call was referred to the Animal Control Office.

Sunday, Aug. 18

7:13 a.m.: An officer assisted the Fire Department in helping someone stuck in an elevator on West Main Street.

12:26 p.m.: The owner of Bill's Pizza reported a burglary overnight. Police are investigating.

4:09 p.m.: A caller on Chestnut Street told police a neighbor was playing music extremely loudly and yelling and screaming. Police spoke to him and he turned his music down.

9:55 p.m.: An officer working a police detail reported the fire suppression/extinguishers had activated at a gas station on Grove Street, and there was now a large cloud in downtown Hopkinton. Police responded, as did the owner of the business.
