Obituaries: Barbara Corbett Dobson, Robert Moore

The longtime residents of Hopkinton and Holliston have passed away.

Barbara A. (Whalen) Corbett Dobson, 74, died January 4. The Hopkinton resident was born in Providence, and was a graduate of Roger Williams Nursing School and Framingham State. She worked at Head Start in Framingham and as a Mary Kay consultant. She was a member of the Hopkinton Historical Society and of the Hopkinton Senior Center.

She is survived by her husband, David, six children, four step-children and 20 grandchildren. Visitation at Chesmore Funeral Home will be on Thursday, January 10 from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on January 11th at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Church.

Robert J. Moore, 85, of Holliston, passed away January 5. He was a WWII Navy veteran and served as past Commander of the American Legion Post 47. In the 50's, he owned Fiske’s General Store and later worked for the U.S. Post Office for a number of years. He owned and operated the Robert Moore Monument Co. of Holliston for more than 30 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Currie of Hopedale, a brother, David Moore and his wife Ann of Holliston; 3 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his brother, John “Jack” Moore and sisters, Mary Blair and Anne Wise who were all of Holliston. Visitation at the Chesmore Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, January 8 from 4-7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
