POLL: What's Your Cat's Name?

Tell us your cat's name and upload a picture of your furry friend so we can put a face with a name.

Mr. Bigglesworth may be one of the most famous cat names, thanks to the Austin Powers series, but I haven't yet met a cat by that name.

I've found, however, that cat owners are more likely to add a courtesy title to their furry pet's moniker ("Miss Taffy" was a childhood friend's tabby cat) than dog owners.

So, when I saw the list of most popular cat names, according to the Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. and Petfinder.com, I was surprised to see no Misters and Misses among them.

The most popular cat names are Bella, Max, Chloe, Oliver, Lucy, Shadow, Smokey, Tiger, Charlie and Tigger.

We want to know: What’s your cat’s name? Is he or she a Mister or Misses? We also want to see your cat photos. Upload photos of your furry family members to this article.

My cat's name is Furball. My husband gave her that name. In fact, when we told someone her name in the past, the person said, "OK, what is her real name?"

my cats are Nala and Mow (like the noise he makes), but we (the adults) call them the fat one and the black one. I like the furball one, that's funny.

My girls are Sarah-cat & Madison-psycho-beastie. Originally her name was just Madison, but due to temperment 1/2 the time we just call her Psycho-beastie

Pongo & Perdita, after the dogs from 101 Dalmations... That's what happens when you let the 2 year old twins name the new kittys...

My 15-year-old Maine Coon is Zachary. My son, then twelve years old and a fan of the band Rage Against the Machine, named him after the lead singer. He's lost a little fluff, lost a little of the pointy fur on the tips of his ears, but he's still my buddy, even after all the kids have grown and moved away.

Kim: I love that your cat is named for Zach in Rage! My cats are: Cleo, Sable and Bosco...I won't share the names we have for them when they are being bad...
Danielle Horn February 06, 2012 at 03:36 PM
Susan, one of my friends had a cat named "Badkitty." Ironically, Badkitty was actually a very good kitty.

I am a cat fanatic and also consider myself pretty creative, but that is not reflected in my cats' names. Or dog, for that matter. The reason is that I usually adopt animals and they have arrived with that name, and I feel badly changing it (as if they know). I did, however, name my beloved Puffy (who died on Oct. 6, 2008). We didn't think we were keeping him, so I just called the little puffball Puffy in the interim. I tried to change his name to Oliver, and it wouldn't stick. He was my baby. I now have Frisky (Fritters) and Mocha (Motors). Sweet Lovey died this past June. I have had cats named Patty and Marty as well. I think if I ever adopt another, I will name him something like Stephen Matthew. Something very human, because it makes me laugh.

My cats name is Moo Haha because she used to eat a a lot and was quite chubby but she seems to have skimmed down. She's all black. My mother has a cat named Baby Girl. People always ask what her real name is lol. My uncle always asks "when are you going to give that poor cat a real name?" And an 18 year old cat named Jinxie.

Jim - did your kitty have a name?
Kathy MacKenzie February 07, 2012 at 01:17 AM
Our all black kitty with the golden eyes is named Vader aka Son-of-Basement Cat in honor of Basement Cat from Icanhazcheezeburger, LOL

My traditional Siamese is named "Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad", but she prefers "Chess Queen". My Ruddy Abyssinian is registered as "Little Mister Scarlet Pumpernickel", but his call name is "Bird", because he gets purring so hard that he trills like a little bird. My niece had a cat named "Mr. Bobbles". My brother had a cat named "Mouse".

Our cat's name is Athena, but her nickname is Teenie since she only weighs about 5 1/2 lbs. We got her from my best friend who had to give her up when she moved. We're so glad to have her. Her picture is the cute gray and white cat on the blue soccer blanket.

We adopted an older cat several years ago named Fifi. Much to my surprise when I took Fifi to the vet "she" turned out to be a neutured male. We just kept calling him Fifi.
Karen Amlaw February 08, 2012 at 06:31 PM
Hi, This is Amigo (yes, I'm love in a fur coat). I invited myself in to live with Karen Amlaw over ten years ago. She brought me to live in Westborough a little over 3 years ago. Last year she adopted my new grey tabby friend Papi. We both love it here.
