Crash Knocks Out Pole, Utility Wires

Police responded to a one-car crash Saturday evening on the Ashland line.

One person was taken to a local hospital this afternoon after crashing into a pole on Highland Street, police said.

The crash, reported at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, forced the closure of a two-mile section of Highland Street, starting at the Hollis Street intersection and ending near the Ashland town line.

The crash was near 34 Highland St. By 6:15 p.m., the car had been removed from the scene and police were awaiting the arrival of utility companies. They were not allowing traffic on the road because of dangerously low hanging wires.
