Original story was posted Nov. 19, 2013.

The following information was taken from a press release issued by the Holliston Fire Department.

A Holliston family was not home at the time their house became engulfed in flames, but the family pets were inside.

Holliston Fire Chief Michael Cassidy said that, on Monday, Nov. 18, the Holliston Fire Department responded to a 12:51 p.m. report of a house fire on [29] Winchester Drive.

"Upon arrival, flames and smoke were visible coming from a top story window," said Cassidy in a press release Tuesday. "Initial reports were that no one was home, but family pets were believed to be inside.  Two dogs and a bird were safely removed from the dwelling."

A full first-alarm assignment -- consisting of one ladder truck, four engines, one rescue, and the ambulance from the Holliston Fire Department -- was dispatched to the scene.

While crews were suppressing the fire, the Medway Fire Department covered Holliston's Central Fire Station with one engine.  The fire was declared under control by 1:49 PM, and the last of the fire personnel cleared the scene at 3:10 PM.

The Building Inspector was notified, to make a determination as to whether the house was a total loss.  The origin and cause of the fire is undermined at this time.  There were no injuries.
