Holliston Log: Texting While Driving Arrest, Hitchhiker

The following information was supplied by the Holliston Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Feb. 14

7:05 a.m.: An officer conducted RADAR speed enforcement at Adams Middle School after a bus driver complained of unsafe driving.

10:09 a.m.: An officer issued a parking ticket to a vehicle parked on the sidewalk at the Chesmore Funeral Home. While issuing the ticket several people reported that this was an on-going issue with the same vehicle.

8:12 p.m.: An officer performed a well being check on the clerk at Country Farms after a customer said the clerk may need medical attention.

8:35 p.m.: An officer responded to a three-car crash on Washington Street at Village Auto Sales. No injuries were reported.

Friday, Feb. 15

9:24 a.m.: Officers responded to a break-in at the Holliston Housing Authority. Nothing was reported stolen from the office that was entered in to.

4:39 p.m.: Officers responded to a two-car crash on Chamberlain Street. No injuries were reported.

6:06 p.m.: A resident picked up an iPad they had lost that had been returned to the Holliston Police Department.

7:50 p.m.: A caller from Cutler Heights reported snowballs being thrown at passing vehicles on Hollis Street.

10:08 p.m.: A caller reported a vehicle operating erratically and almost hitting other vehicles on Washington Street headed toward the police station. Lindsie Berger, 30, of 11 Diane Dr., Medway was stopped, arrested and charged with drunken driving.

Saturday, Feb. 16

3:04 p.m.: An officer spoke to members of a church group who were meeting in the upper level of Village Plaza.

7:17 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Washington Street and arrested Simon C. Loja, 35, of 32 Water St., Milford. Loja was charged with unlicensed operation, speeding and texting while driving.

12:00 p.m.: The K9 unit did a demonstration for a group of Boy Scouts at Fiske’s General Store.

6:34 p.m.: An officer checked a person who was hitchhiking on Concord Street. The officer gave the man a ride to a residence in Ashland.

Sunday, Feb. 17

2:10 a.m.: Officers issued several tickets to vehicles violating the overnight parking ban. Tickets were given out on Norfolk Street, Hemlock Drive and Johnson Drive.

10:41 a.m.: An officer assisted in freeing a vehicle from a snow bank on Norfolk Street.
