Update May, 30 9:45 a.m.: The Framingham District Court released Vaccaro under the condition that he stays a safe distance from his wife.
His trial is expected to continue on June 11.
An argument between an elderly Holliston couple became physical and led to an alleged attempted strangulation on Sunday night, according to Police Chief John Moore.
A 411 operator called Holliston when a Gorwin Drive woman mistakenly called the directory service instead of 911 during the dispute, Moore said.
Officers arrested Thomas Vaccaro, an 84 year-old from 353 Gorwin Dr. in Holliston and charged him with attempted murder and assault and battery on a person older than 60.
"The evidence and the statements led us to believe a strangulation was attempted," Moore said.
