How Much Crime Takes Place in Holliston?

According to new statistics were released by the FBI this week, Holliston saw a dramatic increase in property crimes in 2012.

Eight violent crimes were reported in Holliston last year, according to new statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation this week.

The 2012 number is up from 2011 when a total of six violent crimes were reported. 

The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year. Violent crime, as defined by the report, includes murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

According to FBI statistics, in 2012 Holliston reported the following statistics. The 2011 numbers are in parenthesis. 

  • Violent Crimes: 8 (up from 6 in 2011)
  • Aggravated Assault: 8 (up from 6 in 2011) 
  • Property Crimes: 106 (up from 85 in 2011)
  • Burglary: 23 (up from 17 in 2011)
  • Larceny/Theft: 78 (up from 64 in 2011)
  • Motor Vehicle Theft: 5 (up from 4 in 2011)
