How Much Crime Takes Place in Hopkinton?

New statistics were released by the FBI this week.

Two violent crimes were reported in Hopkinton last year, according to new statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation this week.

The 2012 number is up from zero in 2011. 

The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year. Violent crime, as defined by the report, includes murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

According to FBI statistics, in 2012 Hopktinton reported the following statistics. The 2011 numbers are in parenthesis. 

  • Violent Crimes: 2 (up from zero in 2011)
  • Robbery: 1 (up from zero in 2011)
  • Aggravated Assault: 1 (up from zero in 2011) 
  • Property Crimes: 94 (down from 95 in 2011)
  • Burglary: 0 (down from 2 in 2011)
  • Larceny/Theft: 92 (down from 93 in 2011)
  • Motor Vehicle Theft: 2 (up from zero in 2011)
