Clark Projected to win US Rep Race

Clark will take seat vacated by Senator Ed Markey.

State Senator Katherine Clark will be the new Fifth District U.S. Representative. The Associated Press called the race just after 8:40 p.m. Tuesday night.

Clark, a Democrat, defeated Republican Frank Addivinola, Justice Peace Security Party candidate James Hall and independent James Aulenti in Tuesday's special election. With the victory, Clark will assume the seat held by Edward Markey since 1976. Markey vacated the seat when he won election to the senate earlier this year.

With 35 percent of the vote counted, Clark led Addivinola 64-34.
