DISC Plan Ready for Submission to MassDOT

After years of planning and meeting Hopkinton's downtown improvements are taking a step forward this month.

On Thursday Hopkinton residents will have one last chance to provide feedback on the downtown improvements before a plan is sent to the Massachusetts Department of transportation.

"The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update to the public and to gather additional input for DISC and the [Board of Selectmen] prior to formal submission to MassDOT.  With town meeting deadlines on the horizon, this will help to inform and shape the decisions that will be made as to how the Town will proceed with the various elements and the overall Project," Town Engineer Dave Daltorio said in a press release.

The changes have been in discussions for more than a year, and resident feedback has already scaled down the size of the project.

At the Hopkinton Town Meeting in May, one article regarding a parking lot and a second article regarding the undergrounding of utilities along Main Street were both voted down.

Residents will be able to attend this meeting in the Town Hall Thursday morning at 10 a.m. The plan will also be presented at the Jan. 22 Board of Selectmen meeting for their feedback.
