Holliston Resident to Run for Lieutenant Governor

James Arena-DeRosa of Holliston will run for lieutenant governor of Massachusetts.

James Arena-DeRosa, a Holliston resident and former Northeast regional administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's food and nutrition services, is running for lieutenant governor, according to MassLive.com

Arena-DeRosa left his job with the USDA in order to mount a run, and is planning a formal announcement after Jan. 1.

Arena-DeRosa will face former Ted Kennedy aide Steve Kerrigan, Leading Cities CEO Mike Lake and Whately selectman Jonathan Edwards in the September 2014 Democratic primary. On the Republican side, former state representative Karyn Polito is running as GOP gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker's running mate.

"In sum, my whole life (Oxfam/Peace Corps/Food and Nutrition) has been about serving underrepresented communities and forging partnerships that bridge the government - non-profit/community and business sectors and in these extraordinary times where we have record profits, record stock market highs yet record hunger, we can do better," Arena-DeRosa said in an email to MassLive.com.
