In Holliston's only contested town race, Edward Dooley, a 2009 grad, was edged out in his bid for School Committee by newcomer Anne Hanstad during last night's elections.
Incumbent School Committee members Donald Gray and Kathi Pennypacker were re-elected for three-year terms, picking up 513 votes each.
Only 737 Holliston residents participated in town polls out of the 10,000 eligible to vote. Elizabeth Greendale, Holliston's Town Clerk said yesterday's low numbers could be a result of a lack of interest and rainy conditions.
"Weather does have a lot to do with it, it keeps people home," Greendale said. "It's not uncommon for town elections to have a low voter turnout."
Thomas Meehan, Susan McGee and Michelle Johnson, write-in candidates for the three open spots on the Finance Committee, will soon announce if they accept the positions residents nominated them for last night.
Selectman Kevin Conley and Planning Board member Geoffrey Zeamer were re-elected in uncontested races, picking up 632 and 548 votes respectively.
