Cournoyer Resigns as Principal of Hopkinton High School, New Team Appointed

Former Hopkinton High School Principal Mike Cournoyer resigned this week. He had been on the job a short time before being put on administrative leave in mid-September.

In a letter to parents on Friday, Nov. 1., Superintendent of Hopkinton Schools Cathy MacLeod informed parents that Mike Cournoyer had resigned as principal of Hopkinton High School and that Evan Bishop is the new principal.

Cournoyer had been on administrative leave since mid-September for reasons not shared with the public. He had been on the job just two months before being put on leave. Prior to his post as Hopkinton principal, he served as principal at Holliston High School and Assistant Principal in Hopkinton.

"I have received and accepted a letter of resignation from Mr. Cournoyer as Principal of Hopkinton High School. By working strategically with the high school administration, we have developed a plan to provide for continuity and stability in leadership at the high school while minimizing any additional cost to the school department beyond that which was originally budgeted," she said in the letter.

Evan Bishop was appointed as Principal of Hopkinton High School; he served as Interim Principal last year.
